Exciting museums, romantic parks, beautiful streets lined with irresistible shops and restaurants that each seem to have a menu more attractive than the one before: the area around the Palais Royal is a charming place to spend Valentine's Day.

 

A romantic stroll

You can walk quietly, hand in hand, between plane trees and chestnut trees, following the paths of the Jardin des Tuileries. Expansive lawns, neatly trimmed shrubs and superb sculptures fill this beautiful and typically French public park. You can snuggle up together on a green bench or a chair facing the large central basin. Then your steps will naturally lead you to the Orangery Museum, where Claude Monet's Water Lilies await, along with various works by Renoir, Cézanne, Picasso and Derain.

 

Along the Seine and beyond

Then there is the Seine, the most romantic river of all, whether during the day, when it basks beneath the sun, or in the evening, when the lights of the city and the stars that illuminate the Parisian sky are mirrored in its gently flowing waters. You can walk along its banks before heading to the very chic Rue Saint-Honoré, then to the Place Vendôme, where the most prestigious jewellers exhibit their creations. Wandering the aisles of the Saint-Honoré Market will certainly give you an appetite. But rest reassured; restaurants abound. Among the most famous are the Grand Véfour, which was originally popular during the Enlightenment, and the superb Macéo (51, Rue des Petits Champs), which you’ll want to make your own!
